What is an ATS?
An applicant tracking system (ATS) is the software companies use to post jobs and manage applications. Most company “careers” pages are really an ATS board, either hosted on the ATS’s domain or embedded behind the company’s own branding.
How to tell which ATS a company uses
- Check the URL when you click “Apply” — boards.greenhouse.io, jobs.lever.co, myworkdayjobs.com, jobs.ashbyhq.com and *.recruitee.com are dead giveaways.
- View the page source and look for the ATS name in scripts or embedded widgets — many ATS boards are embedded on a company domain.
- When in doubt, a good monitoring tool will auto-detect the platform for you from the URL.
